Outside of work
There is no place I’d rather be than chasing my energetic toddler. He is the sweetest, funniest, and most contagiously joyful tiny human, who has shaped my world view in the most positive way. I’m also blessed with three stepsons, Michael, Jacob, and Drew, who are exceptionally awesome big brothers. Oh yes, I’m way outnumbered, but I’m okay with that.

I have a seriously deep passion for food. My husband and I love to try new restaurants, and usually make ‘where to eat’ the center of our itinerary when we travel. We’ve been known to drive an hour or more to try a new place, or to get a certain type of ethnic cuisine that we can’t find in Stark County (e.g. Cleveland for dim sum). Once we walked about 25 minutes one-way from the closest subway stop in New York to get some highly-rated bagels. In the past I’ve enjoyed blogging about my food adventures and writing a restaurant review column for About magazine.

What you don’t know about me…
Some people probably don’t know that I was born in Santa Barbara, California, I danced (tap, jazz, and ballet) for 8 years, and I’ve been an aunt since I was 3 years old.

How I got my bragging rights…
I attended Miami University and earned a bachelors degree in Psychology. I worked in corporate America for 8 years (in Akron, then San Diego) and learned a lot about business before realizing that I wasn’t doing what I wanted to do. I went back to school for interior design at San Diego Mesa College, and the rest is history.

How I give back:
I have served on the board of the Stark County Hunger Task Force since 2011. I’m a member of the 30th class of Leadership Stark County.  In years prior, I’ve gotten creative for a cause with the SHD crew for Canstruction, a design competition (making structures out of cans) that benefits the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.

Who molded me into the person I am…
I have the most wonderful parents that have always encouraged me to do what makes me happy. They are my biggest cheerleaders and I wouldn’t be where I am without their infinite love and support.

Architecture that inspires me…
The Art Institute of Chicago (Modern Wing) by Renzo Piano.

Observing the Grand Canyon and hiking into it are two entirely different experiences. In the same way, the difference between being a guest in a new building and working in a great building is a bit like my story of the Grand Canyon. There is a lot of thought, time, money and risk in a new or renovated building....
