Summit County Department of Job and Family Services
The Summit County Department of Job and Family Services has relocated to the newly renovated 160,000 SF "Firestone Triangle Building" in Akron. Focused on improving their services and saving money, Summit County made the decision to team with Amerimar Realty to renovate the Triangle building, creating office space for eight of the county departments. These departments previously occupied four separate locations that did not have access to free parking, making it inconvenient for the 250+/- residents who take advantage of these services daily.
Originally built during the World War I era, the project team including SoL Harris/Day and Chambers, Murphy & Burge Restoration Architects, registered the building as a Historic Building and obtained several million dollars in tax credits for the owner through Federal and State programs. Summit County will lease the Triangle Building from Amerimar for the next 19 years and 11 months. This was a true collaboration between developer and tenant since Amerimar treated Summit County as if they were developing it specifically for them, allowing their input throughout the whole process... right down to customizing the floors.
The new location provides one convenient location and free parking while also saving the County approximately $10 million over the next 20 years.
Amerimar developed the fourth floor as unoccupied shell space and is seeking tenants to occupy this space.
